- Thomas Dean 9/12/2021Recently finished my Level 3 Extended NVQ in Engineering Maintenance - Electrical. The course was well structured and easy to understand. The OneFile system was very easy to use. Anyone working in an engineering environment and wanting a Lvl3 qualification should definitely give Semester Learning a look. The staff were very helpful and quick to reply to all questions. A very very good course and set up.read moreread lessgrant clissold 4/14/2021I have just completed my Business Administration Level 3 Diploma with Semester. i have been most impressed with their willingness to help me not only progress with my coursework, but also help me progress in my career. Submitted assignments were promptly checked and have received constructive feedback for these. The tutors were helpful and when I needed to, I could easily arrange for an extension of the allocated time. Would recommend Semester Learning short courses as a great introduction into the world of engineering.read moreread lessigus UK Ltd4/06/2021

- Darren Houston 6/01/2020I undertook a Level 3 Certificate in Engineering with an additional unit giving me four units in total to study. This was my first experience at online learning with the course itself being well structured incorporating a good range of resource materials at hand for further study. Tutors were generally very responsive to any messages/queries and assessments were marked with feedback at a very good rate also. Many thanks.read moreread lessJake Boulter 5/19/2020The course I took was the L3 BTEC HN bridging course which gives you the units required to help you get on to a HNC which is my eventual plan after a short break. This was the first time I had done any distance learning and was pleasantly surprised at the amount of resources and learning material available. Most of the tutors were incredibly good with their feedback and support. (The only reason I say most not all is because a couple of questions asked were not replied to. However this could have been the nature of the question I am not sure)The only criticism I may have is I found the wording of some of the questions can be interpreted in different ways resulting in different answers but as I said the feedback and response from the tutors is great. My advice would be if you are unsure ask.I would highly recommend this course for anyone looking for a starting block to get into engineering. It has also helped me greatly in my work as a Quality technician which I started the same time I started the course after being a spray painter for 10 years. My ability with software like excel have increased greatly thanks to this course. If you are unsure whether you should spend the money and take this course I say do it. Whether you are looking to get into a specific engineering field or not I have found you can apply this knowledge to most jobs.read moreread lessAJ2020 3/19/2020I have young children, full time job and little time for anything else, so going to college was out of the question. At work I have reached a ceiling, but unfortunately without the right qualification, moving up was difficult. So I contacted Semester learning and after a brief chat with Scott I was more than convinced this is the right way forward. They have arranged a payment plan which suited me fine, it was spread over the duration of the course and it was direct debited from my bank at a date of my choosing.I haven’t done any form of education for the past 15-20 years, so getting back to it was slightly difficult, at the start , my time management wasn’t on point, but semester learning provided all the tools to manage myself throughout the course.Slowly i started focusing more, and paying attention to what was needed to be done, I began to understand the right way of self study & how to pace myself.I’m not going to sit here and pretend the journey was easy, at times I couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel and other times i was moving on swiftly. The team was at hand every step of the way, through email or telephone and if an assignment is returned for the feedback was clear and concise, and they helped in every turn.Semester learning has a wonderful moodle system and the ONE-FILE E-Portfolio learning Hub is second to none .I finally completed the course and couple of weeks later i received my certificate and had it added to my portfolio at work.I would like to thank the whole team at semester for all the support and patience they have shown me along this journey, if you ask me if I would do it again with them I would say YES.Ahmedread moreread less
- Martin Skates 3/19/2020I signed up for the Level 3 BTEC in ICT Principles course, taking in modules ranging from networking to building a computer system. The initial module selection proved challenging, given that there are many modules to choose from and due to the way Pearson have prepared the units you cannot have them all at once!Semester offer their online study materials through Moodle, as well as the course reading list offered by the syllabus. The course content is based on online video with the occasional web article. There are also quizzes in some sections that you need to complete before you can move to the next section/request an assignment.Assignments are allocated per section and have a 2-week deadline; only the study materials are self-paced. This is managed through OneFile, an online portfolio and evidence system where you can track all your progress. For the assignments you have to prepare a mixture of leaflets, booklets, handouts, reports and videos. Marking time is usually around 5 working days. All in all, I learned many new things on this course as well as refreshing knowledge from past courses with local colleges - it's important to be up to date with new developments in a field such as computing. Not only that but I have upgraded my dad’s 10-year-old PC with new components, giving it a new lease of life with the new knowledge I have gained!Semester also have a number of engineering courses on their portfolio too, so there is something for everyone.I certainly look forward to putting my knowledge to good use in the future and will certainly look to consider other courses in due course. Many thanks to all at Semester!read moreread lessMark Shaw 3/19/2020Semester provided the opportunity to top up my UCAS points at a pace that suited my own circumstances. The provision of a dedicated tutor was a great benefit that ensured l was able to complete work to my best ability.
