What is the Level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety (Fire Inspector) Qualification?
The Level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety (Fire Inspector) is for learners who work in, or who want to work in Fire Safety roles such as:
- Fire Safety Auditor
As such, this qualification is aimed at experienced fire safety officers working in complex environments and situations. Conjointly, it covers reviewing fire protection systems and fire safety matters and assessing risks associated with fire.
This Diploma is for learners who work in Fire Safety roles such as:
- Fire Safety Inspector
The qualification gives learners the opportunity to:
- Have existing skills recognised
- Achieve a nationally-recognised Level 4 qualification

SFJ Awards Level 4 Certificate in Fire Safety (Fire Auditors) – 23 Credits
FSL4 U001 – Visit complex premises and environments for the purposes of fire safety regulation
FSL4 U002 – Review fire protection systems in complex premises and environments
FSL4 U003 – Review safety measures at locations that are regulated and/or licensed
FSL4 U004 – Ensure measures are in place to protect people from fire in complex premises and environments
FSL4 U005 – Assess risks associated with fire in complex premises and environments

Mandatory Units – 30 Credits
Firstly, FSL4 U001 – Review fire safety matters relating to existing or proposed construction
FSL4 U002 – Visit complex premises and environments for the purposes of fire safety regulation
FSL4 U003 – Review fire protection systems in complex premises and environments
FSL4 U004 – Review safety measures at locations that are regulated and/or licensed
FSL4 U005 – Ensure measures are in place to protect people from fire in complex premises and environments
Lastly, FSL4 U006 – Assess risks associated with fire in complex premises and environments
Optional Units – (7 credits needed)
FSL4 U007 – Review fire safety matters relating to premises under construction, demolition and alteration – 4 Cr
FSL4 U008 – Work in partnership to minimise risks to the community – 4 Cr
FSL4 U009 – Serve statutory enforceable documents for the purpose of fire safety regulation – 3 Cr
FSL4 U010 – Draft statutory enforceable documents for the purpose of fire safety regulation – 3 Cr
FSL4 U011 – Prepare and present evidence in court and other formal proceedings in relation to fire safety matters – 3 Cr
FSL4 U012 – Support the management of risk at incidents – 4 Cr
For those who have already achieved the Certificate, we can top you up to the Diploma, doing just the following:

FSL4 U007 – Review fire safety matters relating to premises under construction, demolition and alteration – 4 Cr
FSL4 U008 – Work in partnership to minimise risks to the community – 4 Cr
FSL4 U009 – Serve statutory enforceable documents for the purpose of fire safety regulation – 3 Cr
FSL4 U010 – Draft statutory enforceable documents for the purpose of fire safety regulation – 3 Cr
FSL4 U011 – Prepare and present evidence in court and other formal proceedings in relation to fire safety matters – 3 Cr
FSL4 U012 – Support the management of risk at incidents – 4 Cr
Entry Requirements
- Firstly, Level 3 Certificate in Fire Safety (or equivalent)
- Secondly, Level 2 English
- Thirdly, a very good understanding of IT and the Internet.
- Fourthly, access to a PC and an internet connection
- Lastly, working as a Fire Safety Inspector/Auditor
Those learners who have completed the Level 4 Certificate in Fire Safety (Fire Auditors) will not have to repeat units that they have previously achieved.
