What is a Scholarship?
Scholarships are a scheme where your course fees are paid for. Traditionally Universities offer these, but so can we.
Who is eligible?
Currently we are offering this scholarships to serving or ex-service UK Military personnel. The reason we are doing so is that the senior management are both ex-Army and we want to help where we can.
- You must have served for at least 2 years
- You can be nominated by a senior rank/officer
What Scholarships are available?
We are only offering Level 2 scholarships at present. The reasoning is that Enhanced Learning Credits (ELC’s) will only pay for level 3 courses or above. We know that some people leave the military without any qualifications due to their current role, or the qualifications they have, will not help them get a job in civvie street.
We offer 2 routes:
Engineering
There are tons of skills you will have that could lead to a job in Engineering Maintenance. Unfortunately some employers do not recognise the valuable skills you have without an equivalent qualification. We have 2 that would be suitable, you will get the one that suits you best:
Engineering Operations– the knowledge you need to get started in Engineering. Learn engineering techniques, maths, science and get a recognised BTEC qualification at the end of it.
OR
Engineering Competence – get benchmarked for the skills you currently do in the military, such as maintaining vehicles and equipment, servicing. Essential if you want to work on a building site, you will need an NVQ, which this is, in all but name.
ICT
BTEC Level 2 Certificate in ICT Systems and Principles – this qualification has been chosen by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) as a starter qualification for their support staff. It is an ideal way to learn about ICT and get the basics and a recognised qualification.
OR
Competence Diploma – this qualification allows you to evidence different ICT competencies against national standards. You could be using radios, installing radio kit in a Land Rover, using IT or servicing peripherals.
We are accepting Applications now! The window for this first one closes on the 30th June.
